The 475 Large Carving Axe is used for woodworking and shaping wood. The axe has been developed in collaboration with master craftsmen Wille Sundqvist and Onni Linnanheimo, with inspiration from old designs. The Large Carving Axe has a relatively long, curved cutting edge which is double-sided as standard.
It is also available with an asymmetric grind, with a single right or left bevel (grind) These are remarkable axes for convex and straight wood faces such as the outside of bowls, billet preparation and planing flat surfaces.
The 475V Large Carving Axe, ground left side (normally for a right handed person) has a short bevel face on the right side of the edge, if the axe is held in the right hand with the handle down and head up. The left side of the edge has a longer, slightly concave bevel face.
The 475H Large Carving Axe, ground right side (normally for a left handed person) has a short bevel face on the left side of the edge, if the axe is held in the left hand with the handle down and head up. The right side of the edge has a longer, slightly concave bevel face.
